Know the Bible

To be an expect in any thing requires commitment, and daily practice. A top sportsman or sportswoman becomes the best not by chance but by that they keep on training daily and avoiding certain habits in order to improve their perfomance. The same principle applies to us as Christians, especially to leaders.

For anyone to be a successful preacher or pastor, it is necessary that they give themselves to prayer and studying of the Bible. This should be their daily practice. These two things are none negotiable. They are critical in the life of any church leader. For us to be able to teach well and shepherd the flocks of God faithfuly we must always meet our Master in prayer, to report our concerns and our progress in the work we do and also to request more grace to help us carry on with serving Him. We must soak ourselves in the word of God and be instructed of the Lord by means of his written word. We should learn from the example of the apostles, in that, when matters of food and waiting of tables arose in the church, the apostles set themselves apart by refusing to get involved in such matters and suggested that deacons be appointed for the purpose of waiting tables and managing distribution of food. The apostles said, “It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables… but we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.” (Acts 6:2,4). There are certain things, though they be good, which are to be abandoned or avoided in order to excel in the most important duty into which one is called.

Paul affirms that the written word of God is critical for our lives. After showing in 2 Timothy 3:16, that all scripture is inspired by God. He then shows us that the same is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness. This is all necessary, so that, “the man of God may be perfect, and throughly furnished for all good works.” (2 Timothy 3:17) This means that the Bible is enough, for our perfection and to have us totally equiped to do every good thing required by the Lord from us. We cannot raise healthy churches if we ignore the word of God. To ensure that the church members are growing, pastors must be committed in prayer and be full of the Bible and then train their members to do the same.

If we as pastors commit ourselves to do thus, there won’t be a need to fake miracles or even to resolve to magic and manipulation in order to woo the crowds for the purposes of gaining a large following.

The Two Evils

The Two Evils
Introduction

You might be having questions in your mind regarding the title of this post. I wouldn’t blame you if you do have questions because I would do the same if I were in your position. Needless to say, the whole world is surrounded by (if not drowning in) evil. All the wickedness that we see in the world is due to that people have committed two greater evils before God their creator. And we shall discuss these evils shortly. All scripture references will be taken from the unadulterated non-copyrighted Authorized King James Version of the Holy Bible (1611). The main purpose of this post is to warn God’s people and to give glory to God.
Point Raised
“For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.” Jeremiah 2:13
As we all know that these are the words of God by prophet Jeremiah. Our God who will not tell a lie spoke and His infallible word remains. God said and is still saying in His word that His very own people have committed not one but two evils. These two evils are:

  • They have forsaken me the fountain of living waters
  • And hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water

God exposed the sin of His people yet they refused to repent. He warned them but they would not return from their ways. They have provoked the Lord since He brought them out of the land of Egypt the house of bondage. They saw His wonderful works, they saw His deliverance, His provision but they would not refrain from provoking the Lord to anger. Their children were also a stiff-necked people, they went and whored after strange gods and forsook the Lord and the Lord sold them to their enemies. The Lord had mercy on them and raised up judges to deliver them and to judge among them.

They continued to provoke the LORD and they demanded a king in the days of Samuel the seer. They rebelled against their eternal King who lead them, fought for them and provided for them. The Lord gave them the king out of the tribe of Benjamin. Saul the Benjamite sinned against the LORD by not taking heed of the command that God gave concerning the Amalekites that he should surely destroy them and everything that belong to the Amalekites. Saul allowed that the things which were accursed be brought to the land of Israel that they may be offered unto the LORD. The LORD was sorely displeased and rejected Saul as king. The Lord sent Samuel to anoint David the son of Jesse, the son of Obed, the son Boaz the husband of Ruth the Moabitess.

1. “They have forsaken me the fountain of living waters”
The first evil that has been committed by the people of God is that they have forsaken God. They have removed themselves from the very fountain of living waters. This is rebellion at its best. Forsaking the LORD is to rebel against Him, His laws and everything that He had put in place. One evidence of that people have forsaken the LORD is that they start refusing His word. They claim that the present times are more advanced than the word of God. They attempt at all times to change the scriptures by omitting what they deem irrelevant for these times or that which is offensive to the general public. They add their own words which would agree with all their abominable lust-filled idolatrous lives.

We live in the time where the Lord Jesus Christ, the very source of life is being forsaken by many. Many churches have removed Jesus from His throne and they have put their own false christs to rule over them. Though they say “In the name of Jesus” it is only another “Jesus” they are calling. This attack against the true God and Christ was seen by the Psalmist and is found in the second psalm, being laid out in this manner, “Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying, Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.” (Psalm 2:1-3) The nations and all the rulers of the world have ganged up against God and against his anointed. They say “let us break their bands asunder and cast away their cords from us.” They have removed all ties between them and God.

Instead of total surrender to the Son of God, the people have distanced themselves from the true God and censored anything that glorifies Christ on circular media. They allow only that which would blaspheme. The non-discerning Christian will be deceived thinking what they see and hear on television is the truth, while the name of Christ is being desecrated before them and they be busy nodding amens to all the circular religious television garbage.
In most government institutions, it is okay to say the word god but as soon as you say Jesus Christ, it becomes a problem. The societies believe in a god but not the true God. They would settle with anyone who says “god” because anything can be called “god” thus giving room to pluralism which says, “You have your god and I have mine.” This is to turn away from the One True God who made all things.

The modern day churches have deviated from biblical evangelism and biblical preaching of the word. Churches are now built by means of entertainment and motivation. Circular/demonic music is now played in what is supposed to be (by circular definition) the house of God. Repentance, Judgment, Hell and other gloom and doom sort of messages have not only been tossed out the window but they have found their place in the nearest garbage bin by these circular church builders. Church meetings are no longer about “Thus saith the Lord…” but instead they are about “You need to speak the word over your life…” The truth of God is being turned into a lie. That which is created is now being lifted far above that Creator who is blessed forever. Amen. The people of God have forsaken the LORD. They have committed an evil thing.

2. “And hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water”

The people have not only forsaken the LORD but they have found an alternative for God. This is the second of the two evils. The people ran after Asher and Baalim, the gods which were no gods at all. To say “they hewed them cisterns, broken cisterns, that hold no water” tells us that the people have replaced God with inferior or useless alternatives. They forsook the very spring of living waters and put their trust in that which cannot hold the water due to that it is broken or weak. They entrusted their lives to self made gods and systems of men. They made their own religions instead of living by the words that proceed from the mouth of God.

Some people have denied the existence of God and opted to believe that nonsensical idea of evolution which is based on nothing but fiction. The Roman Catholic people have removed Christ (as if it were possible) from running the church and they appointed the Pope in instead. The Pope decided that faith on Jesus Christ is not enough for salvation, thus he glorified Mary the mother of Christ. This over glorification of Mary is deception because this catholic Mary is just an anthropomorphization of Isis, an idol of the heathens. The Hindus bow to every abominable idol which they themselves have made and not only that, but also, just about anything is a god to any Hindu. Muslims have opted to follow their false prophet Elijah Muhammad who dared to write a book and renounced Jesus as the Son of God. Muhammad started his own religion based on a lie, just like any other false religion.

TBN, God TV and other few “multi-million dollar pastor” owned networks have been spreading lies in the name of the Lord. They perpetrated the old lie of the serpent which he told Eve in the Garden of Eden, saying “Ye shall be like gods.” They have removed the teachings of Christ and have spread men’s teachings. The Bible is now a reference book and their books are now the “must have” pieces of scripture. Often you hear them quoting from their books rather than quoting from the gospels or from any other book in the bible. If they happen to quote the bible, it would be to back the heretical points they have raised by misrepresenting the scripture or reading from the perversions of scripture which they have translated themselves in order to suit their abominable and damnable heresies.

People have hewed themselves broken cistern that can hold no water. They have trusted in the words of men and have rejected the infallible life giving Word of the True and Holy God. They condemn the bible as irrelevant to this day and age. They have put their trust in what they believe, only on the basis that “the pastor said so, therefore it must be true.” The churches today have formulated their own ways and have strayed from the way of truth. This is evil and it will not go unpunished unless the church returns to the very spring of living waters. God is that spring of living waters.
There is no need for false fire and false rain. These wicked preachers forsook God the very spring of living and now they stand in their churches shouting that the “rain of the Holy Spirit is falling” not realizing that they are just being blessed by demons and not God. How can God be in something He is not part of? If God were to bring the rain of fire, would all these sinners and hypocrites survive? Will God change and be the friend of those who blaspheme His name? God forbid! Surely He will utterly do away with the wicked who persist in their wickedness. As the LORD spoke about the destruction of the cities of Israel because of their evil doings, He is warning us today and we should take heed.

“Hast thou not procured this unto thyself,
in that thou hast forsaken the LORD thy God,
when he led thee by the way? And now what hast
thou to do in the way of Egypt, to drink the waters of Sihor?
or what hast thou to do in the way of Assyria,
to drink the waters of the river? Thine own wickedness
shall correct thee, and thy backslidings shall reprove thee: know therefore
and see that it is an evil thing and bitter,
that thou hast forsaken the LORD thy God,
and that my fear is not in thee, saith the Lord GOD of hosts. ”
(Jeremiah 2:17-19)
