This week was quite an interesting week from the start. I worked very hard on my garden. It has been a long while since I had put such great effort on working the ground. What I love about garden work is that I get time to think and reflect on life, the bible and other things.

Usually when I work hard or when I am running I always get brilliant ideas the problem is I forget those great ideas the moment I get relaxed. maybe I should carry a pen and every time I do hard work so that when my philosophical genius awakens I would right down everything it reveals

The point of today’s episode is get us realize that work is essential and that we must earn the right to claim any form of payment. We are to work for survival and also for luxury. We attempt to show why work is essential in a human being’s life and that there are consequences which follow the lack of work.

This episode is not scripted. Lungisa Joctrey is just talking freely about the ease of starting a podcast.

If you have a voice and you wish to be heard, start a podcast. You may think that starting a podcast is expensive but it is not. The basic need for starting a podcast is a recording device and you don’t have to look further than your smartphone. You can use your phone to record your podcast episodes. After recording them, upload them to sites like Archive.org or Soundcloud and start promoting your show episodes on Facebook and other social media platforms.

Some people would prefer to record on a microphone instead of a phone in order to achieve high quality sound. If you are one of those people, I recommend the Samson C01U Pro Condenser microphone. This microphone connects directly to the USB of your computer. I recommend this because it is a Microphone I am currently using. You can also try the Heil Sound Pr40 which is a very popular dynamic microphone.

Just give it a shot. It only takes that first step of getting out of your comfort zone and start recording your first episode. Come on just do it, you’ll thank yourself later.

Today we are talking about a subject that touches us all in different ways. The subject of death. Death is an event that will eventually happen to all of us within the next 120 years from now. unless the Lord Jesus Christ returns and end the mortal life as we know it, we are all owing to die someday.

We are not commissioned to know that day of our death, however, we are commanded to repent and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ so that we may obtain eternal life.

The truth is, none of us is worthy of ever going to heaven or to live in the new earth. We can only enter therein by grace, through faith, in Christ Jesus alone. Should death happen today and we are not in the right standing with God, we are doomed. The only right standing with God there is, is Christ Jesus alone.

While many South Africans were enjoying the long weekend which occurred and ended right before they got paid, I went to a youth camp, which was organized by the youth of Africa Evangelical Church (AEC), East Rand Circuit.

AEC is a denomination to which I belong and in which I work as a pastor. I am currently based at Edendale Branch which is under Midlands Circuit. I was requested by the East Rand Circuit Youth to come and teach in their Youth Camp. They gave me a topic which said, “A Life Fashioned by the Word

I must admit that I had a wonderful time in that camp. It was a very rewarding experience to take sometime off from the noise of the city and head out to spend time in a camp site

We were at a camp El Olam, which is a Christian camp site. There were activites and games which you’d normally expect in a camp. The word was taught faithfully to those who were present at the camp and the Lord was good.

My greatest highlight in this camp was the hike. I had never been in a guided hike before. This was physically challenging and rewarding at the same time.

The trail started of down hill and then we crossed two streams of water. The latter section of the hike was challenging. We had a very steep hill about 150 meter high. After this hime we had breakfast and drove 2hrs to Durban and we had a wonderful at the beach.

In today’s Episode we discuss the online requirements for you to start a basic podcast. Last week we were talking about offline tools you would need to record podcasts episodes.

To record a podcast you would need :

After you have recorded and produced your audio file, you will need to upload and make it available on the internet .

Website

A website is a home for your podcast. This is the address where people will come visit and hangout. They will find show-notes, affiliate links and much more. It is advisable that you always send traffic to your website first before you send them anywhere else.

Audio Hosting

Some people are able to host their audio files on WordPress. Since I am on a WordPress plan that limits the amount of stuff I can upload, I host my audio file at Archive.org. There are many other paid solutions out there if you are careful to check. After I have uploaded my podcast’s audio file, I take the link and place it on the show notes so that it can be accessed by my audience.

Podcasting Platform

This may be a bit technical. You will need to submit your podcast to podcasting platforms like Apple Podcast (iTunes), Google Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher and many more. To do this you will need to have an RSS feed for your podcast. This will update these platforms every time you publish an episode on your websites.

In Episode 031, we dealt with the things you’d need to start a podcast. Today I will speak to you about “How to start a podcast.” I feel that the items listed in episode 31 may not be clear enough for some people. I took it upon myself to prepare this short tutorial that will teach you how to start a podcast with zero or very minimum budget.

To start a podcast you will need two sets of tools.  These are offline and online tools.

For offline tools, you will need:

A Computer

We established that you would need a computer. It is also possible to use your smart phone, but for simplicity’s sake, please use a computer.

A Microphone

Yes, you will need microphone. Ideally for a start, you can get a USB Microphone from Amazon. I use personally a Samson C01 Pro USB microphone.

Headphones

It is always good to get feedback of your recording while it happens, than to record a good 45 minutes only find that there is no recording because the mic volume was too low. Headphones will help give you an idea on how your recording will sound.

Digital Audio Workstation (DAW)

This is a computer software which you will use to record and edit your audio files. I use a free software called Audacity.

A Good Quiet Space

It is best to record your podcast episodes in a quite space to avoid disturbances. You don’t what your listeners to hear your dog barking or your neighbors fighting.

Next week will shall deal with online tools for podcasting
