No one can be perfect: A lame excuse

Someone would agree with the title of this post and another one would not agree. It is very true that not a single person on the planet can be perfect on their own accord. Since sin came into this world we (human beings) lost our moral perfection. Yes, human beings were once perfect. Their disobedience against God was not a mistake. God had given them a commandment knowing that they were perfect and able enough to keep that commandment. He did equip them with the knowledge of the consequences of disobedience, should they decide to disobey, as He (God) stated to them saying “… thou shalt surely die” (Genesis 2:17) . So Adam and Eve disobeyed, not by a mistake but knowingly and willingly. Then sin and imperfection came to the world.

Pauls writes “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned” (Roman 5:12).Yes, no one is perfect, and because we are conceived and born in sin (Psalm 51:5), we are all stained by the sin of our forefathers, and therefore we remain imperfect. Even Romans 3:10,23 states “There is none righteous, no, not one:… For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” Even those who are called “a good man” or ” a good person” in our society, they all have sinned and are not good enough to go to heaven.

Why do I say this? Well consider these questions.

Are they so good they have never told a lie?

Have they never hated or killed someone?

Have they not committed adultery by looking at a woman or man with lust?

Have they never stolen anything in their life time?

Are they honoring God at least once a week?

Have they not held the name of the Lord in vain, like using it as a curse word just as movie actors do?

Do they worship God alone or they have other things that they love above God, like money, wife, sex, children, work, sports, TV shows and others?

Have they honored and respected their parents always?

Have they not coveted, like wanting things that do not belong to them?

Well my friends if they have violated one of the Ten Commandments of God, it is equal to having violated all of them and so they are not so good after all. BUT why throw the baby with bath-water? Perfection is not possible from human effort but it is possible with God, as Jesus pointed out “With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.” (Mark 10:27) and Jesus did says that we must be perfect like God “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.” (Matthew 5:48)

It is therefore possible to be perfect, but by the ability that God has given. I now lack time to write any further.
